Student Leadership Organization (SLO) is a volunteer/service organization designed to help the Flushing Community and especially students who are interested in the field of human services.  In SLO you will participate in a number of community service activities such as lighting for the candle walk, volunteering at soup kitchens, Cystic Fibrosis Bowl-A-Thon, etc.  One of our major projects is also Adopt-A-Class, where high school juniors and seniors in SLO mentor a group of elementary and middle school students weekly, or bi-monthly.  As a SLO member participating in Adopt-A-Class you will further see what it is like as a classroom teacher and assisting in the learning process.

Dear SLO members:

The following are some guidelines to be followed as a Student Leadership Organization member:

1. You must be passing all classes.
2. You must participate in at least three (3) activities sponsored by SLO.
3. Remember you are a mentor and a role model.  Act accordingly.  You have signed a pledge to be a member of SLO.  Remember that this pledge is to be followed.  If you feel you cannot abide by the pledge of SLO, then please do not put yourself in a position to be asked to leave SLO. 
4. Because you are in a leadership role as a member of Student Leadership Organization, you cannot be involved in any disciplinary actions taken at school.
5. You must regularly attend the meetings for SLO, which will be held on ____________________________.
6. You will be removed from SLO if you violate the SLO pledge.

As a participant in the Student Leadership Organization, I understand that I will serve as a leader and role model for other people in the community. 

As a participant in the Student Leadership Organization, I agree to abide by the rules and regulations as set forth in the guidelines for being a member of SLO, which I was given to read and review.   I understand that I must be passing all my classes, that I must participate in at least three (3) SLO activities, that my behavior and attitude must reflect that of a leader, that I cannot be involved in any disciplinary actions at Flushing High School, and that I must regularly attend SLO meetings

My signature indicates my understanding and willingness to abide by these rules and regulations.  I understand the penalties should I choose to not follow the rules and regulations as set forth in the SLO pledge.
