    The following scholarships are active and offered to Genesee County students. Read each scholarship for a description and directions on how to apply.

    Wanda Dover Educational Scholarship

    The Wanda Dover Educational Scholarship recognizes college-bound students for their academic, leadership and extracurricular accomplishments. To be eligible students must be a graduating high school senior, have at least a 3.0 GPA, be a citizen of the United States, be a resident of Genesee County Michigan, and plan on attending a four-year college or university in the state of Michigan.

    Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Scholarship

    This scholarships is available to students attending a public, private, or parochial high school in Genesee County and Holly in Northern Oakland County. To be eligible to receive an award, recipients must have a grade point average of at least 2.5 (based on a 4.0 scale) and enroll in a full-time program at an accredited college, university, or an institution of equivalent accreditation during the 2019-2020 academic years.

    MCPA Scholarship

    A senior who is eligible for graduation and is currently enrolled in a work-based learning experience (Co-op and Unpaid Learner) is eligible to apply for this scholarship. Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. A resume, references, transcript, current schedule, letter of recommendation, and photo release will be required.

    The LINKS Incorporated Scholarship

    The Links, Incorporated - Flint Area Chapter Scholarship is awarded each year to a graduating high school student in Genesee County in pursuit of higher education.  The amount of the scholarship awarded will be determined by the availability of funds. Students need to submit a completed application, two letters of recommendation, a transcript with a minimum 2.5 GPA, current receipt of registration for matriculation or a letter of proof of acceptance from a college or university and the student must be a Genesee County resident.

    The John F. & Edith L. Wilsterman Scholarship Trust

    All students graduating from a Genesee County public high school are eligible to apply.  Awards are granted by the Advisory Committee for post-secondary education including College and trade school programs.  The focus of the Committee is intentionally not on grades or athletics. The Advisory Committee will weigh heavily a student's talent, ability, ambition, motivation, and work ethic even though these attributes may not have produced a high academic standing.  Currently, the Committee is awarding up to $5,000 annually for up to four years.     Elga Credit Union Scholarships


    Five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. Students who are currently members of ELGA Credit Union are eligible to apply. A GPA of 2.5 or higher is required. All applicants will submit a scholarship application and an essay, video, or project for the scholarship option of your choosing. See the application for additional details and requirements.

    Harold "HAL" Scoville Scholarship

    The Harold Scoville Scholarship is a $500 to $1,000 scholarship for tuition and fees at a 2 or 4 year college/university, or a post-secondary training program. Please contact the GCI counselors at 810-591-4462 for more information.

    Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Scholarship 

    Application Requirements/Information:

    • Must be a graduating senior residing in Genesee County
    • Complete and sign the application form (see attached)
    • Initial the “Release of Confidential Information” section (parent/guardian must initial for minors)
    • Official transcript (include the school seal) which must include your ACT or SAT scores
    • Two (2) letters of recommendation addressing character, scholastic and/or leadership abilities
      • School personnel (e.g. teacher, counselor, coach or principal)
      • Community member (e.g. church member, employer, mentor, scouts, auxiliaries)
    • Essay question: (500 words or less)
      • Should academic achievement be the primary consideration for college admission? Explain your answer.
      • 500 words or less, type, double-space, and attach to application form

    Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP) West Genesee Chapter

    MARSP is offering $500 (five hundred dollar) scholarships to 2020 graduating seniors currently attending Clio, Flushing, Lake Fenton, Hill-McCloy or Swartz Creek High School. The student must be planning to attend college in Michigan in Michigan this fall.

    The West Flint Business Association (WFBA) is seeking applicants for the following $1,500 Scholarships:

    Scholarships are not primarily based on financial need and/or GPA. Awards are primarily based on service to school and community, two (2) letters of recommendation, a personal letter of recommendation. All finalists will be interviewed by our Scholarship committee.

    Please have applicants mail their completed application and required documentation in a single envelope postmarked no later than the deadline of March 31, 2020. (Transcripts may be submitted separately.)

    The Gleason Community Fund

    The Gleason Community Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to organ donation, is accepting entries for its Donation Essay Contest. Students across Genesee County in grade 12 who are planning to pursue a degree in medicine, preferably transplant medicine, are invited to submit an essay about the importance of organ donation. Students are encouraged to write about how organ donation benefits patients world-wide and what more can be done to encourage people to become organ donors. The specific essay guidelines are outlined below: 1,500-2,000 words. Must be a senior (grade 12) enrolled in a Genesee County high school. Entrants must be planning to pursue a career in the medical field, preferably in transplant medicine. Essay must be typed or clearly hand-written. The winners receive $5,000, $2,500, and $1,500, respectively, determined by ranking

    Krause and Kolkman Memorial Scholarship 

    This scholarship is available to any person accepted into an artistic program at a postsecondary school. The award is $500 a year for two years of study;  to be used for tuition or expenses related to continuing your education.Requirements include completed and signed scholarship application, a copy of current transcripts from your current high school or university (If currently enrolled), letter to the scholarship board that is no longer than 2 pages detailing your career/credits as a performance artist or technician and relate how these experiences have affected your life this far and how they incorporate into your long-range goals, and at least one letter of recommendation from somebody involved in your education or an extracurricular activity that directly relates to your course of study

    Rotary Club of Greater Flint Scholarship

     The Rotary Club of Greater Flint Sunrise is offering three scholarships with a value of up to $1,000 per scholarship. Students may use the scholarship for tuition, fees, books or supplies. The scholarship is intended for students who are planning to attend colleges and universities in Genesee County. This scholarship is open to graduating seniors who will be attending college at a Genesee County institution. Students must have a 2.5 GPA or higher and have been involved in leadership or community service roles.
