Parents as Teacher Program

...From the beginning ALL parents are teachers!

You & Your Child
Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a home/school partnership that begins when learning begins: at BIRTH.  PAT is based on the philosophy that parents are their child's first and most influential teachers.  In their beginning years, children learn more and at a much faster pace than at any other time in their lives.  PAT involves parents in their children's education form the outset.  The program helps parents make the most of these crucial early-learning years, giving children the best possible start in life.  All families regardless of socioeconomic status can benefit form participation in PAT.

Home Visits
PAT'S certified home visitor, trained in child development, visits each participant’s home, creating an individualized program for each child and family.  The home visitor brings developmental information and an activity that is age specific for the child.  Developmental information is taken from the national Parents As Teachers curriculum.  Visits are generally done every 5-6 weeks and run from September through May.  Enrollment can be done throughout the school year.
