• Important Notice regarding My School Bucks
Flushing Community Schools recently upgraded the software and hardware that is used for students who purchase school meals. As a result, some parents using My School Bucks will need to access their account and update their students. The ONLY parents that need to update accounts are those with students who have student numbers with preceding zeros, for example: 001234 or 012345. If your child has a seven digit number that does NOT start with a zero, there is no need for you to update any information in My School Bucks. For those that need to update, you will need to log in and remove the current accounts for your children, then do a new “find” for each child. Any existing account balances have already been transferred over to the “new” child.  If you have any questions about the process, please call our Child Nutrition Department at 810-591-2791.

  • Breakfast At School: Eating breakfast is an important start to the academic day. To maximize learning, students need to start each day with a healthy meal. Since mornings can be hectic and sometimes students do not have time to eat breakfast before the bus comes, Flushing Community Schools offers breakfast in each building. School breakfast includes whole grain rich items, fresh or canned fruit, 100% fruit juice, and low fat or fat-free milk. Help your child start the day right with school breakfast!

Important information about Free and Reduced Meals

Flushing Community Schools is proud of our Child Nutrition staff and the meals that they offer every school day. Good nutrition is an important part of a child's education. Without access to adequate nutrtion, learning is hampered. If your child is eligible to participate in the Free or Reduced School Meal Plan, it is important to submit your information in a timely  manner.

Please note that for anyone using the Food Benefit Program (Free or Reduced Lunch Program), a new application must be submitted at the beginning of every school year, unless you received a letter in August from the Child Nutrition Department stating you are pre-qualified.  If your child is new to the district, an application must be filled out and approved before your child will start receiving free and reduced meals. Please send a sack lunch with your child or plan on paying full price for your child's meals until you receive an approval letter from the Child Nutrition Department. For those who attended Flushing Community Schools in 2021-2022 and were approved for the 2021-2022 school year, you have until October 12, 2022, to submit your new application

Applications are for a full family, so only one is required to be submitted per family.  Please allow time for application approval, as this process can take up to two weeks.  Please note you must pay for meals until your application has been approved.

You can use the Online Free & Reduced Lunch Application link to apply starting August 9, 2021.  We encourage you to use the on-line application as it is more secure and quicker.   Paper applications for the Food Benefit Program for the 2022-2023 school year will be available in the main office for those who are unable to submit on-line. Reading this Frequently Asked Questions regarding Free & Reduced Meals document might help as you prepare to fill out an application. If you need help filling out the application, you can click this link for added information
