GSA would like to say Happy National Coming Out Day.
The first National Coming Out Day was organized by Jean O'Leary and Dr. Robert Eighberg; it was first observed October 11th, 1988.
In 1996, the NCOD Project was created. During the first few years, artist Keither Harring contributed an iconic image of a person walking out of a closet; it has continued to be used to support the NCOD Project in providing resources to the LGBTQ community.
NCOD is also on the anniversary of the March on Washington for Gay and Lesbian Rights.
Teachers, if you would like to show your support / show your safe space, Ms. Hancock has rainbow ribbons made by the GSA in honor of today.
