Elementary Strings
Beginner and Advanced Elementary Strings are open to current 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students in Flushing Community Schools. Both the beginner and advanced strings groups meet twice weekly for group lessons and perform twice each year (December and May). To sign up for elementary strings, click here.
Middle School Orchestra
Middle School Orchestra performs at the four major orchestra concerts (October, December, February, and May) as well as the MSBOA Band & Orchestra Festival each spring. Middle School Orchestra also participates in the Flushing Middle School Collage Concert in December. Students may also choose to participate in our middle school Solo & Ensemble festival, held after school in April.
High School Orchestras
Flushing High School has two orchestra classes -- Concert Orchestra, which is a larger group, and Chamber Strings (Advanced Strings) which is an auditioned group. Both perform at the major orchestra concerts (October, December, February, and May) as well as the MSBOA Band & Orchestra Festival each spring. The FHS Orchestras also perform as part of the Flushing High School Collage Concerts in December. Students have the opportunity to participate in additional small groups such as cello choir or student string quartets, pit orchestra, and electric orchestra.
