Flushing Community Schools is pleased to announce the Educator of the Year and the Employee of the Year for 2018-2019.
TheEducator of the Year award this year goes to Flushing High School Teacher Shawn Andrews. Shawn is truly a dedicated teacher and coach who makes a difference in the lives of her students. Her teaching extends beyond the walls of the classroom, to prepare students for life and the future challenges many of us experience. Whether it is health, physical education, varsity volleyball or Varsity Club, Shawn’s organization, high expectations and positive relationships make her students successful. Congratulations Shawn, and thank you for all you do! Flushing High School Security Team Leader Gene O’Kelly is this year's School Employee of the Year. Gene establishes trusting and respectful relationships with the students and as a result anticipates problems often before they occur. Even more importantly, he handles all of his responsibilities with a smile and a true dedication to the success of the high school. Congratulations Gene, and thank you for all you do!
Educator of the Year and the School Employee of the Year will be recognized at the annual Flushing Area Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Signature Chop House.
